'Cubic air' bylaw passed in Victoria

The City of Victoria passed a “cubic air” bylaw stating that each occupant of a room should have 384 cubic feet of space. Intended to reduce overcrowding, this bylaw could make housing more expensive for Chinese residents and allowed the police to raid the living quarters of Chinese residents and impose fines.
