Money raised for Sun Yat-sen’s Republican Revolution

Eighty members of the Chee Kung Tong (Chinese Freemasons) in Victoria mortgaged their building to raise money to support Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s anti-Qing Republican Revolution in China. (CCL, 98) Lim Bang and two other merchants added a donation of $1,600 (in addition to a $900 loan from a Canadian bank) to bring this amount to $10,000.
